Tyria Moore, Aileen Wuornos’ girlfriend
Before Wuornos’ arrest in Janurary, 1991, the two lived together. They first met in a gay bar in Daytona, Florida in the mid-1980s. The two women became romantically involved and soon moved in together. Wuornos’ prostitution (along with robbing her victims) earned them enough money to scrape by. Eventually, Moore learned of Wuornos’ killings. Despite this, the couple stayed together.
The law interfered with the couple a number of times, including once in 1987 (Wuornos and Moore was accused of assault) and in 1988 (Wuornos had filed assault against a bus driver, Moore was a witness).
In 1990, the two got into a car accident with a stolen vehicle, which led to Wuornos’ ultimate arrest in 1991. Moore would often call Wuornos during this time. Wuornos would tell Moore how much she loved and missed her, however Moore never returned her words. Moore often expressed her fears of the police coming after her.
The last time the two ever saw each other was in court. Moore testified against Wuornos, and reportedly did not once look her former partner in the eye. While on death row, Wuornos did not receive any letters or visits from Tyria Moore.
